About Us

Firesoft LLC is a company started by two volunteer firefighters in Galena, IL.

Passionate about firefighting, they decided to find ways to implement the latest, cutting edge technology to increase safety on the fireground.

Matt Oldenburg, CEO and Co-Founder

(right) CEO and co-founder Matt Oldenburg is a West Point (Civil Engineering, German, and Spanish) graduate and US Army veteran. Following the completion of his military service, Matt re-located back to his roots of Galena, IL, where he co-owned a Travel Business. Shortly after joining the Galena Fire Department, he and co-founder Aaron Abt began to brainstorm ways to implement technology into the fire service. In mid-2011 he took on the role of CEO of Firesoft, LLC and worked diligently on bringing the iCommand product to market. Matt is the one that keeps us on track and keeps the wheels moving even if he has to get out and push. Thankfully, he is a pretty big guy!

Aaron Abt, CTO and Co-Founder

(left) Aaron Abt moved to Galena, IL with his wife after purchasing a local restaurant. A computer science major in college and a self-described “techie”, Aaron has always had a passion for computers and technology. He joined the fire department shortly after Matt and immediately added firefighting to his list of passions. Aaron’s chief responsibility at Firesoft is product development, and he is equally happy when immersed in programming or responding to a page. Aaron has developed a knack for telling Matt that a feature cannot be implemented, only to turn around and have it done a few hours later (much to Matt’s chagrin!).
